Oleve EVOO tasting at Goulandris Foundation

Oleve presented an original olive oil tasting experience inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s masterpiece “The Olive Harvest.” Van Gogh’s work portrays the beauty and multifaceted hues of the olive—from silver and blue to pink and orange. The transformation of the olive into an exceptional olive oil is a process that serves as a cornerstone of Greek tradition while simultaneously opening new perspectives in culinary creation.

At the Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation, we experienced a unique olive oil tasting event titled “The Olive is Delacroix.” Within the framework of this initiative, the distinguished chef Aristoteles Megkoulas masterfully guided the participants on gastronomic journeys, unveiling the secrets behind selecting and savoring a high-quality olive oil. This culinary meeting demonstrates that olive oil is not merely an ingredient but a source of creativity that enriches traditions and opens pathways for new culinary explorations.

The journey of the olive—from its conception to its transformation into exceptional olive oil—highlights both the history and the contemporary dynamism of Greek culture. Through this process, participants has the opportunity to:

  • Learn to recognize the distinctive tasting characteristics of olive oil.

  • Discover the varieties and unique qualities of Greek olive oil producers.

  • Taste creative recipes that showcase the authentic flavor of olive oil, accompanied by fresh naturally leavened bread and specialized products.

This Oleve initiative underscores the value of Greek olive oil not only as a fundamental element of gastronomy but also as a cultural heritage that draws inspiration from art and tradition. Through the guidance of specialized chefs, Oleve offers a comprehensive experience that honors the past and paves the way for the future.
